United Way of Northeast Arkansas, in partnership with the IRS, offers free tax filing services each year during tax season through the IRS-sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Program (VITA). IRS certified volunteers work with eligible taxpayers to assist with the preparation of basic tax returns and will electronically file those returns once they have been reviewed. United Way of Northeast Arkansas' VITA program has operated for over 10 years, offering free tax help to: People who generally make $57,000 or less; Persons with disabilities; and Limited English-speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.
Please understand tax appointments will look different this year as we work to protect clients and volunteers. Please review our two options for tax preparation below. This information will help you determine which appointment type will work best for your household. If you are planning to file a joint return with your spouse, you must BOTH be present for each appointment/interview--please make note of this as you schedule your appointment.
The program income limit for tax year 2020 is $57,000 or less.
